The Vision & The Theme
To be surrounded on all sides by beautiful landscaping and water features, the park will include a pathway that resembles two symbolic cancer ribbons conjoined from opposite directions, ultimately forming the symbol for infinity.
The conjoining ribbons reflect the concept of two distinct memorials:
- One is to commemorate those taken by cancer; it will have as its centerpiece a special Remembrance Tree.
- One is to honor cancer survivors; it will feature a gazebo for staging events that celebrate their lives and life in general.
In addition, semi-private alcoves with benches where visitors may sit in contemplation or prayer will be liberally placed throughout the memorial on both sides.
The Board is working with the City of Boonville to acquire land for the park. The current plan is to build the park on the former campus of Kemper Military School.
